APRIL 4, 2018 APPROVED TAX EQUALIZATION MEETING

The 2018 Tax Equalization meeting was called to order by Council President Dan Imdieke on Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at 5:00 p.m. Upon roll call, the following council members were present: James Gartner, Shelly Hauge, Randy Meidinger, Dennis Morris, Linda Schumacher-Kelsch. Absent: Mayor Tim Volk. Also present: Emmons County Director of Tax Equalization Sarah Ohlhauser, Ardella Deis and City Administrator Sharon Jangula.

Tax Director Ohlhauser presented a list of applicants for the Homestead Tax Credit and the Veterans Tax Credit. After reviewing the list, a motion to approve the Homestead and Veterans Tax Credits as presented was made by James Gartner and seconded by Linda Schumacher-Kelsch. Unanimous aye vote; motion carried.

The commercial and residential sales for 2017 were reviewed. Tax Director Ohlhauser noted that the overall median sales ratio of 97.39 falls within the state tolerance level.

The current valuations along with recommendations for adjustments was reviewed. The adjustments were for new construction, remodel and other factors. After discussion, a motion to approve the current valuations with the recommended adjustments was made by Randy Meidinger and seconded by Shelly Hauge. Unanimous aye vote; motion carried.

A motion to adjourn was made by James Gartner and seconded by Shelly Hauge. Meeting adjourned.
