APPROVED JULY 6, 2020 CITY COUNCIL REGULAR MEETING MINUTES

The meeting was called to order by Mayor Daniel Imdieke on Monday, July 6, 2020 at 5:00 pm. Upon roll call, the following council members were present: Jon Ptacek, Shelly Hauge, Randall Meidinger, Wayne Ehley, Dennis Morris, Travis Dockter. Also present: City Attorney Joseph Hanson, City Administrator Sharon Jangula, Director of Public Works Virgil Hulm, Deputy Auditor Joy Bosch.

The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

Mercedes Goetz addressed the council requesting the city install a handicap ramp near the alley leading to the sidewalk on her commercial property located at the intersection of Broadway Street and Hickory Avenue West. The request was tabled until the next meeting to gather more information.

A motion to approve the June 23, 2020 Organization Meeting Minutes was made by Shelly Hauge, second by Wayne Ehley. Unanimous aye vote; motion carried.

John Bartlette addressed the council requesting to purchase the W1/2 of Lot 6, Block 3, Patterson’s Addition. Mr. Bartlette said he currently maintains the 50′ X 140′ lot which adjoins his property and he has no plans to place a building on it at this time. Sharon Jangula confirmed the property is not in located in the floodway. After discussion, a motion to sell the property for the cost of the 2015 street special assessment ($872.80) plus legal and filing fees was made by Randall Meidinger, second by Jon Ptacek. Unanimous aye vote; motion carried.

A motion to approve Building Permits: 20-35 Linton Dental Center–install handicap ramp & change interior door; 20-36 Chad Kooker–replace sidewalk and cement boulevard; 20-37 Debbie Weber-build fence; 20-38 Sarah Ohlhauser–remodel to add bedroom; 20-39 Bruce Poppke–build outdoor covered patio; 20-40 Jeremiah Lund–repair patio; 20-41 United Methodist Church-replace sign; 20-42 Rita Widner-repair roof; 20-43 Larry Flegel-pave driveway; 20-34 Steve Schmidt- build storage shed contingent on approval of building materials was made by Randall Meidinger, second by Shelly Hauge. Unanimous aye vote; motion carried.

A motion to approve the June 2020 Monthly Financial Report was made by Jon Ptacek, second by Wayne Ehley. Unanimous aye vote; motion carried.

A motion to approve the payments was made by Randall Meidinger, second by Shelly Hauge. Unanimous aye vote, motion carried. Other discussion included: no tires will be accepted during garbage collections or at the City Landfill; Census workers will be available to help residents complete their census during the Emmons County Census Ice Cream Social January 23rd from 2 to 4 at the Linton Community Center; Rath & Mehrer will conduct the audit on July 7th; the Preliminary Budget will be approved at the August 3rd meeting.

The next regular meeting will be held on Monday, August 3, 2020 at 5:00 pm.
