APPROVED TAX EQUALIZATION MEETING MINUTES
April 21, 2022
The 2022 Tax Equalization meeting was called to order by President Dennis Morris on Thursday, April 21, 2022 at 5:30 p.m. in the Linton Community Center. Upon roll call, the following council members were present: Shelly Hauge, Randall Meidinger, Wayne Ehley, Dennis Morris, Travis Dockter. Absent: Council Member Jon Ptacek and Mayor Daniel Imdieke. Also present: Emmons County Director of Tax Equalization Denise Nieuwsma and City Administrator Sharon Jangula.
The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
Tax Director Nieuwsma presented the council with information relevant to the tax equalization process.
The commercial and residential sales for 2021 were reviewed. Tax Director Nieuwsma noted that the overall median sales ratio for residential was 96.75 which was within the state tolerance level. However, there are overall inequities that may require reassessment. She said there was only one commercial sale which did not fall within the tolerance level, but based on one sale, no overall changes would need to be made.
Director Nieuwsma presented the changes in values totaling $12,200 bringing the total current valuations to $50,218,000. She said she will be sending Omitted Tax Notices to property owners which could further increase valuations by approximately $300,000. After discussion, a motion to approve the valuations as presented was made by Randall Meidinger, second by Wayne Ehley. Unanimous aye vote; motion carried.
A motion to adjourn was made by Randall Meidinger, second by Wayne Ehley. Meeting adjourned.
